SatisMeter helps you understand how customers see your product. It automatically and continuously collects feedback through Net Promoter Score (NPS), Customer Satisfaction (CSAT), Customer Effort Score (CES), or Product-market fit (PMF) surveys. This article shows you how to set up a survey widget on a public website or web app.
In this article:
Creating a new survey
In your SatisMeter Dashboard, click New survey.
Follow the steps in Launching your first survey to set up the survey until you reach the Channel section.
Select the Web channel and click Continue. You see three installation options, which the sections below describe.
Public website
Use the public website option to collect anonymous responses from people who don't need to be identified.
To install a survey on your public website:
- Copy the code in the box below step 1 (see the screenshot above). Paste it before the
</body>tag on every page where you want SatisMeter to appear. - Open your website in your browser and load any of the updated pages.
- Click Verify Installation to check that your installation sends data to SatisMeter. For more on testing, see Testing the survey installation.
Web app
The installation process is similar to the public website option, with the addition of user traits and events. The code includes segments that your technical team must replace.
To install a survey in your web app:
- Copy the code in the box below step 1 (see the screenshot above). Paste it before the
</body>tag on every page where you want SatisMeter to appear. - Replace the highlighted lines of code marked as
TODOwith the data of the user who's logged in to your app. - Log in to your app as a user, then visit any page with SatisMeter installed.
- Click Verify Installation to check that your installation sends data to SatisMeter. For more on testing, see Testing the survey installation.
Segment
Installing with Segment is the easiest option, and it takes just a few clicks.
To install a survey with Segment:
- Click Enable with Segment to turn on the SatisMeter integration in Segment and start collecting feedback.
- SatisMeter needs to identify the logged-in user to target surveys. To do this, call the analytics.identify method in your Segment snippet.
- Open your web app or website in your browser and load any page that contains your Segment snippet.
- Click Verify Installation to check that your installation sends data to SatisMeter. For more on testing, see Testing the survey installation.
Single-page apps
If your website is a single-page app rather than a static website, you install SatisMeter in your JavaScript code instead of your HTML.
The code looks similar, but you need to remove the <script> tag from it.
For a working sample, see this example of a React app that shows the survey after login.
Verifying and continuing
Always verify your installation by clicking Verify Installation. The button is available in all three installation options. For more on testing, see Testing the survey installation.
After you install the code correctly, click Continue and follow the next steps in the Survey Designer.
If you can't install the code yourself, click Send Instructions (shown above). This sends a read-only link with instructions to the person who can install it. For more information, see Invite your developer.
