Creating surveys for shop experience, post-purchase, and delivery feedback

Running an online store can leave you feeling out of touch with your customers. SatisMeter helps you collect customer feedback and experience data, so you can close that gap, get to know your customers, and improve the shopping experience.

When you install the SatisMeter snippet on your Shopify-hosted website, you can survey customers throughout the online shopping experience. You can also survey across other channels with email surveys or link surveys.

SatisMeter's custom templates help you create short surveys and learn more about your users. Ask general questions, such as "How did you hear about our shop?" or "Did you find what you were looking for?" You can also focus on user experience, for example: "How easy was it to navigate through the site?"

To better understand the shopping experience, try the example surveys below.

In this article:

Shop experience

Use SatisMeter to ask customers about their shopping experience, product availability, and ease of use. Here's one example: a simple two-question survey about user experience.

Next, use targeting to control when the survey appears. In the Targeting section, show the survey on pages whose URL contains search, so users see it only while they look for a specific product:

Combine this with a rule that requires at least 30 seconds on the page. This gives users time to look for a specific product:

The result is a quick survey about product availability and the overall shopping experience.

Post-purchase survey

First, create a custom survey and add your questions. Here's an example of a post-purchase survey with two questions:

If your website uses distinct URLs for its pages, you can create a simple setup with URL targeting:

If you store an event each time a customer completes a purchase, you can use an event trigger instead:

To do this, add user events to your snippet. Each time a user completes a purchase, your system records it as an event and sends it to SatisMeter.

After the survey goes live, SatisMeter shows the widget to users who trigger the Completed purchase event or visit a page whose URL contains checkout-completed. These users can then rate their experience.

After-delivery survey

Receiving their order is your customer's end goal. After delivery, send an email survey to measure their satisfaction with the delivery process and their overall experience with your shop.

For this survey, SatisMeter gives you HTML templates to send through the email provider of your choice. To see which providers we support, read Launching your first email survey.

The HTML templates are editable, so you can customize their look and feel by editing the code. Here's what the base email looks like:

As with all email surveys, when a user clicks a rating in the email body, a landing page opens with the rest of the survey's questions:
