REST API for SatisMeter

SatisMeter provides REST API endpoints so you can connect your survey data to the rest of your tools. This article explains which key to use, how paging and date ranges work, and how comma-separated values (CSV) exports and timestamps behave. For every endpoint and parameter, see the full API documentation.

In this article:

Choosing the right key

New projects need an API key to use the REST API. In new projects, the read key and the write key don't work for every request:

  • In new projects, read requests that use the read key return a 403 error.
  • In new projects, requests to the Users API that use the write key return a 403 error.

Your website snippet still uses the write key, so keep the write key in your snippet as it is.

Tip: If an API request returns a 403 error, check that it uses the API key, not the read key or write key.

Paging and date ranges

The API returns results in pages, so a single request may not include every response:

  • Each page contains 20 responses by default.
  • You can request up to 100 responses per page.
  • If you don't set a date range, the API returns responses from the last month.

To retrieve older responses, set a date range in your request and fetch every page of results. The full API documentation lists the available parameters.

Exporting responses to CSV

CSV exports from the dashboard have no row limit. The export uses the dashboard's current date range and filters, so it includes only the responses you see on the dashboard.

Example: If you filter the dashboard by Commented, the export includes only the responses that match that filter. Clear the filter before exporting to include every response in the date range.

For more about exports, see Export Responses & Dashboard stats.

Column names in exports

Each question in your survey becomes a column in the export:

  • Rating questions appear as columns named rating, rating_2, and so on.
  • Other questions use the question text as the column name.

Time zones

Timestamps from the API and in CSV exports are in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The dashboard shows times in your browser's time zone. A response near midnight can appear on a different date than on the dashboard.

Tip: Convert UTC timestamps to your local time zone before you compare them with the dashboard.
